Review of New Samsung Printers & Photocopiers

New Era for office machines!

Samsung are just about to launch possibly the biggest step forward in office photocopiers since the step up from analog to digital.

In reality what Samsung have already achieved within the industry is quite remarkable. They have already changed the way we service machines with a modular approach that has resulted in less engineer intensive servicing and more focus on machine uptime. While this is seen as more expensive for dealers and service centres, the net result for the end user is one of increased uptime and consistent colour quality throughout the clients ownership.

So what have they done?

Quite simply Samsung have put a 10.1 inch Galaxy Tab on their multifunction devices. They were the only company other than Apple to be able to do this, and as Apple don’t make printers it means Samsung are the main company who can take things forward in this way.

Since the regular use of touch screens in every day life with smart phones and tablets our expectations for how a touch screen works, and intuitive user interfaces have become much higher. Even the very best touch screens on photocopiers fall short in both resolution and the way they react to touch, meaning a stylus is still the easiest way to use the screens. With the new Samsung MultiXpress this is no long the case.

Android

By using a Galaxy Tab 10.1” the user interface interaction is now exactly the same experience you get on your tablet at home. Whats even better is they are using Android. This opens up a whole new world for 3rd party apps via the samsung app storeand full integration into the office. In fact you can even design your own apps to suit your needs!

We have only had a quick play with the machines but already you can tell this is a real step forward and an industry game changer. It means you can now view REAL previews of your scans and copy’s on a loverly large screen with all the standard gestures you are used to on a iPad or Tab!

You can browse the web and print directly from the tab! Bring up google maps and print the location of your client right from the printer without having to unpack your laptop.

NFC (Near Field Communication)

With the two main Smart phone manufactures now adopting NFC you will soon be able to pay for items at the shops with your mobile device. This effectively turns your phone into an ID device and a payment card. So with this in mind you can use NFC on your mobile to authenticate at the machine, then use it to print directly from your mobile. Whats more in multi machine environments it remembers your settings and preferences giving a true personal experience.

A3 High Speed Scanning Options

The K4350LX, K4300LX and K4250RX are the A3 mono devices with toner yields of upto 35000 prints. These are also high end scanning devices and offer upto 120ipm scanning in mono and 100ipm scanning in colour (printing/copying is mono). You can add stapling to this machine too.

High Speed Mono Printing Options

With the M5370LX and M4370LX you now get a set of machines which are 53ppm and 43ppm respectively. with scanning upto 80ipm they are designed for those that want fast printing over fast scanning.

This machine also has a few extra finishing options for better job separation.

Samsung Colour Options

The colour range of touch screens starts at the C2620DW which is a small touch screen (non android display). It featured on the M4020NX briefly and when we tested it work really well, just like the touch screens found on some of the HP machines. This is a printer only and prints at 26ppm.

Next up is the C2670FW which is based on the CLX6260, over the C2620DW it adds the ability to scan and copy. We are sure Samsung will be adding the 10.1” screen to the A4 colour devices soon.

At the top of the colour line up is the X4300LX X4259LX and X4220RX. These all feature the colour 10.1” Tab and android system. They print 22 25 and 30 ppm and can print in A3 sitting nicely alongside the mono range of A3 machines.
