Samsung CLX6260ND/FR Review
The Samsung CLX6260 took over from its larger heavier older brother the CLX6220 and is based on the CLP-680 printer version by Samsung. Its a neatly packaged all in one laser printer which can Print, Copy, Scan and if your go for the FR version it can also send and receive fax’s.
Build quality wise the machine doesn't quite feel as heavy duty/industrial as the previous CLX6220 its replaced but that does mean you can now move the machine with a bit more ease around the office if you need to, and so far we have had no reports of any breakages, also the toners seem to last a little longer than the previous model.
The CLX-6260 is a lot less imposing on a desk now and the colour scheme lends its self well in any office environment.
The Printer takes around 10 minutes to unbox and set up and is like all Samsung devices pretty much plug and play. You can tell this machine is designed for business users as the size is slightly larger than a home office equivalent, and is designed to print hundreds of pages a day without fuss.
The toners replace all major components that relate to print quality, so every time you replace a cartridge you are effectively giving the machine a service. This is reflected in the superb print quality which can rival larger multifunctional work group printers 10 times the price. Speed wise the machine is a 24ppm device and when tested this is completely true.
The secure print release that enables you to hold certain print jobs with a pin code before the job is released is also a welcomed feature for organisations printing sensitive data such as employee Salaries. The FR model feature the ability to duplex scans in one go, so is worth the extra if you do a lot of double sided scanning.
The Samsung Desktop multi function printer will work in both a Mac and PC environment thanks to its Postscript and PCL printing drivers, it can also be used as part of a managed print solution, and put on a service package if required.
The main drawback is the screen size and although the menu is intuitive a nice colour touch screen would be more appealing. Samsung now have this option on the smaller high volume mono desktop device so we will hopefully see this feature on the next update. - And we can confirm Samsung have now introduced at touch screen version to their highest end CLX-6260 the CLX-6260FW. The touch screen along with wireless integration makes it a serious price of office equipment.
Overall Rating 8/10
